Design
The 2025 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium epitomizes the quintessential American muscle car with its revamped design. Sporting sleek lines, an assertive front grille, and iconic tri-bar taillights, this vehicle exudes unparalleled style and commands attention on the road.
Performance
Beneath its hood lies a powerhouse – the 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-4 engine, churning out 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Its lightning-quick acceleration and agile handling redefine the driving experience. Coupled with a seamless 10-speed automatic transmission, the Mustang ensures both performance and efficiency. This Mustang EcoBoost is 0.4 second quicker to 60 mph than the last one, but it’s not quite as quick as the Toyota. We launched a 2021 Supra 2.0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, 0.1 second swifter than the EcoBoost. By the quarter mile, the Toyota was pulling away, 13.4 seconds at 103.1 mph, 0.3 second quicker and 5.3 mph faster than the four-cylinder Mustang. While the Ford has the advantage of a larger 2.3-liter engine and 60 hp, 55 lb-ft output, the power-to-weight advantage can’t overcome all that extra inertia.

How’s the tech? Muscle cars don’t exactly describe themselves as “high-tech,” but the Mustang gets high marks for its innovative features. Ford’s Sync interface features best-in-class voice control, an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone integration. The optional digital instrument cluster not only looks great, but the secondary control display works well.
The advanced safety features (blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, etc.) are well tuned to avoid false alarms. The forward collision warning is appropriately startling. Adaptive cruise control works easily with hardware and maintains a constant speed at high altitudes.

If you can’t afford a GT but really want a Mustang, the EcoBoost is a happy gift. This will also be a surprise to the people at the car rental desk. This is not meant to be offensive or aggressive; I would be happy if the company gave me the keys to one of these. Internal storage space is limited. The main drawback is that the infotainment screen needs some dive menus and some important controls have been moved to the touchscreen. While some of these drawbacks involve the standard compromises that must be made for a sporty car, others seem like avoidable mistakes.
